Pateplay secures Pennsylvania licence, eyes New Jersey and Michigan
The gaming supplier has entered the US iGaming market via Pennsylvania after more than two years of preparation, with New Jersey and Michigan next in line.

Pateplay has obtained a Pennsylvania iGaming licence, marking its formal entry into the US online casino market after more than two years of on-the-ground compliance work, the company told SBC Americas.
Ivaylo Dzhavkarov, the supplier's Head of Legal Department, said the licence followed extensive preparation across every department of the business, describing Pennsylvania as one of the most demanding and tightly regulated jurisdictions globally for the sector.
Pateplay has held the US as a long-term target since early in its development, according to Dzhavkarov, who said the country's stringent regulatory standards made it a natural priority for a supplier seeking to demonstrate the strength of its compliance framework.
He said the company judged its products, infrastructure and compliance processes ready only after two years of local groundwork, with Pennsylvania chosen as the proving ground given its scale and the rigour of its licensing requirements.
On competing in a state where online casino has been legal for several years, Dzhavkarov said Pateplay would not rely on a generic approach, instead focusing on data-driven game design and player engagement to differentiate itself from established operators.
The company is committing to a pipeline of two new game releases per month for the US market, which it says will give operators a continuous supply of fresh content alongside promotional tools aimed at player retention.
On localisation, Dzhavkarov said relying purely on mechanics that have succeeded in other markets would be a mistake given the distinct preferences of American players. Pateplay is adapting game pacing, math models and volatility to US playing habits, while also introducing themes and promotional features designed specifically for North American audiences.
He added that the company still sees value in classic slot mechanics and strong gamification when well executed, and is aiming to blend that proven approach with tailored content rather than replacing one with the other.
Beyond Pennsylvania, Pateplay has secured a preliminary licence in New Jersey and is awaiting final approval in Michigan, both states it describes as high-value jurisdictions with established bases of online casino players.
Dzhavkarov characterised the company's broader US approach as strategic and sustainable growth rather than a simultaneous multi-state launch, with Pennsylvania intended as the foundation for a wider tri-state presence spanning New Jersey and Michigan.
He said securing licences in these states demonstrates that Pateplay's technology and compliance infrastructure meet the regulatory bar required across North America, positioning the supplier for further expansion in the US beyond its initial three target states.
