Sportradar has agreed to sell its Atrium Sports subsidiary to Teamworks Innovations for $170m (£129m) in cash, EGR reports.

Atrium Sports comprises the coaching and scouting arm of Synergy Sports, a business Sportradar acquired in March 2021. The New York-listed group said the sale price reflected what it called an accretive double-digit EBITDA multiple relative to its own market valuation.

Sportradar framed the divestment as part of a sharpened focus on its core betting, gaming and media operations. The company said it would hold on to certain technology, capabilities and revenue streams that are already woven into its existing business, including automated video production cameras, automated graphics tools, computer vision capabilities and competition management products.

The move comes as Sportradar pushes into prediction markets, having struck agreements with Kalshi and Polymarket and appointed a vice-president to lead that vertical.

When Sportradar bought the Synergy business in 2021, it described the acquisition as complementary to its wider product suite. According to its own website, the coaching tool lets professional, college and high school teams break down basketball and baseball footage and data, while the scouting product supplies player data and video to support recruitment decisions.

Teamworks, the buyer, was founded in 2004 and employs close to 500 people, with a valuation above $1.5bn. It describes itself as the operating system of choice for elite sports organisations, supplying software and analytics across professional and college sport.

The company says it serves every NFL, NHL and Premier League club as its preferred technology partner, alongside the bulk of MLB, NBA and MLS teams and dealings with more than 65 Olympic federations.

Sportradar expects the transaction to complete in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to the usual closing conditions.

Chief executive Carsten Koerl said the deal streamlines the business around betting, gaming and media while letting Sportradar keep hold of technology and capabilities that will underpin future growth. He added that the proceeds would bolster the balance sheet and support capital allocation priorities, and described Synergy as a leading analytics platform for baseball and basketball now positioned for its next phase under an established industry player.

Koerl said Sportradar would work closely with Teamworks to ensure a smooth handover for clients, partners and staff.
