LCKY Group has appointed Neil Chetcuti as general counsel, bringing in a lawyer with a decade-long background in igaming legal work, EGR reports.

Chetcuti joins from Sportingtech, where he held the role of head of legal for roughly thirty months before moving to LCKY Group.

Before Sportingtech, he spent six years at Gaming Innovation Group, starting as legal counsel in May 2018 and being promoted to senior legal counsel in July 2020, a position he held until leaving in May 2024.

His entry into the igaming sector came via GiG, having previously worked as an associate and later senior associate at the Maltese law firm Fenech Farrugia Fiott Legal between August 2015 and May 2018.

At LCKY Group, Chetcuti will work across the business's divisions as the company looks to broaden its footprint in regulated markets internationally.

He will head the legal team, which also includes Michelle Meilak, a legal counsel who previously worked at Evolution and Immense Group.

LCKY Group chief executive Richard Brown said the company needed a legal function capable of backing its expansion ambitions, adding that he was confident Chetcuti would steer that strategy effectively.

Chetcuti said the group's portfolio had grown recently following its acquisition of RoyalCasino, and that further expansion opportunities were expected, pointing to his intention to use his experience to support the company's international operations as it scales.

LCKY Group was known as Glitnor Group until a rebrand earlier this year that accompanied plans for global growth, including the launch of LuckyCasino in Spain in April.

The month before that launch, the company hired former Light & Wonder chief technology officer Alex Manning for the same CTO role at LCKY Group.

In July, Brown discussed the rebrand and the May acquisition of the Danish-facing brand RoyalCasino in comments to EGR.
