Flutter Entertainment has put company secretary Edward Traynor into the interim chief legal officer post following the exit of Don Liu, according to a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission reported by EGR.

The filing states that Liu notified the Paddy Power and FanDuel owner's board of his decision to step down on 28 September, with the resignation taking effect two days later.

Traynor picked up the interim brief from 1 October, the same date on which Dan Taylor succeeded Peter Jackson as Flutter's chief executive, EGR reports.

Liu had held the chief legal officer title since 21 April 2025. Before joining Flutter, he spent eight years at US retailer Target, latterly as executive vice-president and chief legal and compliance officer, having arrived there from Xerox. His earlier career included spells at Toll Brothers and IKON Office Solutions.

Traynor, by contrast, is a long-serving Flutter figure, having held the group company secretary role for more than 11 years. He previously worked in telecommunications, including a stint at Vodafone.

Marking his exit, Liu described the move as the start of a second retirement, having briefly left Target's top legal job in 2024 before returning to full-time work. "Second time's the charm," he said, recalling that what was pitched to him as a short-term posting in London turned into an 18-month tenure at Flutter.

A separate SEC filing disclosed the financial terms attached to Taylor's new role. He will receive a base salary of $1.14m, equivalent to roughly £861,441, with a $110,000 "directorship fee" added from 2027.

Taylor's package also includes restricted stock units vesting across one, two and three-year periods, a pension contribution equal to 5% of his base salary, and a 12-month notice period.

The leadership change was first announced alongside Flutter's second-quarter results. Jackson had led the company for close to nine years before handing over the chief executive role.
